Man charged with arson and assault after police and firefighters called to car fire in Bishop's Stortford

A man has been charged with arson and assault by beating after police and firefighters were called to a car ablaze in a Bishop's Stortford cul de sac on Saturday evening (July 23).

Karol Skoczylas, 35, of Royal Oak Gardens, appeared at St Albans Magistrates' Court on Monday (July 25). He was released on conditional bail to appear at St Albans Crown Court on August 22.

Police officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary attended the incident in Royal Oak Gardens, off Apton Road, at 9.49pm. A Herts Fire and Rescue Service crew from Bishop's Stortford quickly extinguished the blaze. No one was injured in the fire.
