Man in his 20s found dead in Birchanger Woods

The body of a man in his 20s was discovered in Birchanger Woods on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford on Sunday evening (June 28).

Vehicles from all three emergency services were parked in Hurn Grove, off Heath Row on the Parsonage estate, as Hertfordshire and Essex police officers, paramedics and a fire and rescue crew attended the scene.

The investigation is being led by Essex Police.

A spokesman for the force said on Monday (June 29): "We were called at around 8.10pm yesterday concerning the welfare of a man found in woodland in Birchanger [Woods].

"We attended along with the ambulance service but sadly the man had died.

"His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious. A file will be prepared for Her Majesty’s coroner."
