By Paul Winspear

A man in his early 20s from Bishop's Stortford has been found dead in a park in the town this morning (Monday, April 15).

Police were called shortly before 5.40am today with a report of concerns for a man in the Bishops Park open space off Woodpecker Close, between the Bishop's Gate and Bishop's Park estates.

Hertfordshire Constabulary officers attended. The area was cordoned off to members of the public and awnings were erected.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"His family have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner."

Paramedics from the East of England NHS Ambulance Trust and a Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service crew also attended.

Bishops Park is a 15-acre open space divided by an access road with an enclosed young children's play area on one side and an interactive goal wall and space for kickabouts on the other. Most of the site is grassland with trees around the edges.
