Man stabbed in the back in Bishop's Stortford in 'dispute over debt'

A 48-year-old man was stabbed in the back in Bishop’s Stortford.

The victim was walking from the News and Booze convenience store in North Street to his girlfriend’s home in Apton Road on Saturday night (May 11) between 10pm and 10.30pm.

He was attacked in an alleyway next to St Michael’s C of E (VA) Primary School which joins Windhill to Apton Road.

He became aware that three men were following him and then felt a stabbing pain in his back. He fell to the ground and the trio ran off towards Apton Road.

He could feel blood running down his back. He managed to get to his feet and stumble to his girlfriend’s house. Police and an ambulance were called.

Stortford officers investigating the stabbing believe it is the result of a dispute over a debt.
