Just Stop Oil at Heathrow: Manuden man Luke Watson among 10 protestors charged with conspiring to disrupt airport
A man from Manuden is among 10 Just Stop Oil activists who have appeared in court charged with conspiring to disrupt Heathrow Airport on Wednesday (July 24).
Luke Watson, 34, of The Street, Manuden, and seven others were remanded in custody when they appeared in court on Thursday afternoon (July 25).
The six men and four women, ranging in age from 26 to 74, were arrested either at the airport or in the vicinity on Wednesday as part of an intelligence-led Met police operation.
On Thursday they were charged with conspiracy to interfere with key national infrastructure under Section 7 of the Public Order Act 2003.
They appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where Watson and the following were remanded in custody: Luke Elson, 31, and Rosa Hicks, 28, both of Buxton Road, Stratford; Rory Wilson, 26, of Lipton Road, Tower Hamlets; Sally Davidson, 36, of Portland, Dorset; Adam Beard, 55, of Stroud, Gloucestershire; Sean O’Callaghan, 29, of Mickleham, Surrey; and Hannah Schafer, 60, of Tan-y-groes, Ceredigion, Wales.
Two people were released on bail with conditions that include not going within 1km of an airport without a ticket to travel: Julia Mercer, 74, of Calderdale, West Yorkshire, and William Goldring, 27, of Rye Lane, Southwark.
