Bishop’s Stortford man Mark Stevens and Newport woman Tia Kaye to run Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of disability charity Accuro
A Bishop’s Stortford man and a woman from Newport are gearing up to take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of a local charity.
Mark Stevens, 60, and Tia Kaye, 21, are raising money for Accuro (Care Services), based at Start Hill, which supports children, young people and adults with disabilities in West Essex.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon, which this year is being held on Sunday October 13, starts and finishes in Hyde Park, with over 16,000 participants running through central London and four of the eight royal parks: Hyde, Green, St James’s and Kensington.
Mark is vice president at CGI UK, one of the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world. His fundraising target is £2,500 and so far he has banked £470. He said: “If, through donations made, [Accuro] can impact positively just one additional person, then my fundraising will be worth it.”
Tia, a bank staff support worker on Accuro’s holiday scheme and adult projects, has raised £294 of her £400 target.
She said: “I’ve worked as a support worker for Accuro for nearly four years and have seen first hand all the incredible support the charity provides.”
To support them, their online Just Giving donation pages are at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tiakaye and https://www.justgiving.com/page/mark-stevens-1720120366695.
Accuro is looking for runners to take on the 2025 Brighton Marathon in April. People who commit to raise at least £800 will gain free race entry plus an Accuro running vest and ‘Challenger’ hoodie. Email fundraising@accuro.org.uk if you are interested.
