Sawbridgeworth Mayor Annelise Furnace aims to inspire town's youngsters during school summer holidays

Mayor Annelise Furnace is aiming to inspire youngsters to immerse themselves in everything Sawbridgeworth during the school summer holidays.

Cllr Furnace is urging children to take part in the ‘Bridging The Gap’ activity pack which is based on the town.

She plans to display young residents’ contributions and share them with Sawbridgeworth’s twin towns in France and Germany.

The activities include:

  • Create your Sawbo Superhero
  • Write a letter to the mayor
  • Design your family crest
  • Write an acrostic poem on the word ‘Sawbridgeworth’, and
  • Design and send a postcard to the mayor.

It is part of the mayor's Building Bridges and Connecting Sawbridgeworth themes for her year as the town’s first citizen and is designed to encourage community activities during Covid-19 restrictions, given that no town events are planned for this summer.

Cllr Furnace said that her intention was to display the contributions as a community project and to share them with Sawbridgeworth’s twin towns of Bry-sur-Marne, in the eastern suburbs of Paris, and Moosberg near Munich. Another of her aims for her year in office is to strengthen links with the twin towns.

The first two activity sheets are available now, the third will be ready in early August, with two more to follow.
