Bishop’s Stortford mayor opens outdoor classroom at St Michael’s CofE Primary School
Bishop’s Stortford’s mayor officially opened a new outdoor classroom at a primary school in the town.
Cllr Richard Townsend joined pupils, staff and parents at St Michael’s Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School in Apton Road on Friday (November 3) to cut a celebration ribbon.
Jamie Dormandy, chair of the PTA, said: “The outdoor classroom will be used for teaching, learning and collective worship at school and benefit the children's emotional, physical and mental wellbeing with an outdoor learning space.”
St Michael’s Parent Teacher Association raised £10,000 to fund the facilities, with extra financial support from the Tesco Community Fund, the Benefact Trust, Bupa and St Albans Diocese Community Fund.
