Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall awarded £75,000 grant to help fund extension plan

A grant of £75,000 has been awarded to Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall to help fund an extension to its premises.

A planning application has been submitted to East Herts Council for a £400,000 scheme to erect a first-floor rear and side extension and a ground-floor rear infill extension at the community centre in The Forebury.

A survey was held and there were more than 700 suggestions, including more adult activities in the evening and for younger children and teenagers. The plan includes an extra kitchen, a lift and bicycle racks.

A statement on the group’s Facebook page says: “We will deliver on what the town needs in the same way that we have for the older generation in a well-managed and funded facility for Sawbridgeworth.”
