Met police officer convicted of assaulting driver in Stansted

A Metropolitan police officer faces a misconduct hearing after being convicted of assault following an incident involving two drivers in Stansted.

PC Duncan Bouette, who is attached to the London force’s North East Command Unit, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday July 10 following an investigation by Essex Police.

PC Bouette, 37, denied the charge but was found guilty. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £351 costs.

It follows an incident in Hampton Road on Stansted’s Forest Hall Park estate on March 20, 2023.

The victim flashed the lights and sounded the horn of their car at a vehicle in front which was obstructing their car.

The court heard that PC Bouette got out of his vehicle, pushed the victim in the chest, made a comment to suggest he was a police officer and used offensive language towards the victim.

A spokeswoman for the Met said that PC Bouette was on restricted duties. “Now that the criminal case has concluded, misconduct proceedings will take place,” she said.
