Christmas magic at Stansted railway station encourages donations to Greater Anglia’s food bank appeal

A sprinkling of Christmas magic has transformed Stansted Mountfitchet railway station’s ticket office, to the delight of commuters.

Once again the foyer has been decorated for the festive season by Greater Anglia employee Michael King as part of the train operator’s annual food bank appeal.

Donations of food items and household goods can be accepted at Stansted, Sawbridgeworth, Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow Mill and Harlow Town stations up until Sunday (Dec 15). Food banks in Stortford, Sawbridgeworth and Harlow will benefit.

Visitors to Stansted station praised Michael’s cheery display, which features a Christmas tree, festive bunting and his popular miniature railway displayed in the fireplace hearth.

He will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year when one of the model trains went missing.

Said Michael: “A big thank you to everyone who has donated and to everyone who will donate.”
