George, Harry, William and Charlotte top Hertfordshire's baby name charts
Hertfordshire's most popular baby names have a distinctly royal pedigree, with traditional names such as George, Harry, William and Charlotte topping the county council's registration charts.
Mohammed has peaked in joint third, its highest position ever, reflecting Hertfordshire's increasingly diverse population.
Corinne Edwards, head of registration and citizenship at Hertfordshire County Council, said: "Hertfordshire parents are maintaining a trend for traditional baby names such as Harry and William, but we've seen for the first time this year a greater cultural mix of names.
"With Meghan and Harry's new arrival creating greater diversity within the Royal Family, this trend is also being reflected in Hertfordshire, with a vibrant mix of names gaining popularity."
Here are the top 12 most popular boys' and girls' names registered in the first three months of 2019, from January 1 to March 31. The top five include the number of registrations recorded per name.
