East Herts Council ready to offer further financial support to businesses through discretionary grants

Further financial help for businesses battered by the Covid-19 pandemic will be on offer from East Herts Council next week.

The local authority is accepting applications for Additional Restrictions Grants, ranging from £1,000 to £6,000, from Monday March 1. The deadline is midnight on Wednesday March 31.

They are primarily aimed at businesses which have suffered despite being able to remain open during the lockdowns and tier restriction periods.

They are also available to businesses which were required to close and are not liable for business rates.

All applicants must be able to confirm that they have lost at least 20% of their turnover since early January 2021 compared with the same period last year.

More information will be available on EHC's website in due course.

Cllr Geoff Williamson, the council's deputy leader and its executive member for finance, said: "If you think your business is eligible then please apply. We would also encourage people in East Herts to spread the word and share the details of the scheme with those businesses they are aware of that might be eligible for support.

"We will process payments to businesses that qualify as quickly as possible."
