Motorcycle vandals ride across grounds at Bishop’s Stortford Sports Trust causing damage to pitches

Vandals rode motorcycles across the grounds at Bishop’s Stortford Sports Trust on Wednesday evening (Feb 5) causing damage to the pitches.

A Facebook post from the club in Cricketfield Lane showed images of several tyre tracks across the pitches, believed to have been done at around 9pm, sparking an angry reaction.

The post slammed the “few ignorant, mindless individuals who spoil it for the majority”.

It added: “Our message to them is that we do have CCTV and that we are working with the police on this, as this anti-social behaviour needs to stop.”

“We are also looking at measures to protect our grounds but also to continue to keep them accessible to everyone, this is a tough one to juggle.”

It is believed, but not confirmed, that similar vandalism took place at Grange Paddocks Leisure Centre on the same night.

The Indie is awaiting a statement from East Herts police.
