Little Hallingbury crash: Motorcyclist in his 80s suffers life-changing injuries in collision with van

An elderly motorcyclist was flown to hospital after suffering life-changing injuries in a crash with a van on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford.

The collision happened on the A1060 Hallingbury Road near the junction with Pig Lane at around 2.30pm on Wednesday (September 16).

An Essex Police spokesman said: "The motorbike rider, a man aged in his 80s, was taken to hospital with a hand and leg injury, which have been described as life-changing.

"The driver of the van has been assisting our officers and enquiries are ongoing."

An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and Essex and Herts air ambulance were sent to the scene. A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "One man with serious injuries was transported by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital [in Whitechapel]."
