A motorcyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance following a collision on the outskirts of Sawbridgeworth.

The incident led to the main road between Bishop's Stortford and Harlow being blocked during the Friday morning (Oct 18) rush hour.

The accident involved a van and a motorbike and happened at the junction of the main A1184 Cambridge Road with Parsonage Lane.

Police were called just after 7.55am by the ambulance service, which had been called 11 minutes earlier.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening."

The road was cleared by 8.50am.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent one ambulance and took one person to Princess Alexandra Hospital [in Harlow] for further care."
