Julie Marson: Bishop's Stortford MP gives online government and politics lecture to students

Students from secondary schools in Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth got a lesson in government and politics from MP Julie Marson.

The Conservative hosted a Zoom lecture to share her knowledge with up to 110 pupils and teachers from seven schools in her Hertford and Stortford constituency.

They were Herts and Essex High School, The Bishop’s Stortford High School and Bishop’s Stortford College in Stortford, Leventhorpe in Sawbridgeworth, Richard Hale School in Hertford and Ware’s Presdales and Chauncy schools. All secondary schools in the constituency were invited to the call.

Mrs Marson, who has been in the House of Commons since December 2019, said: “School staff are under a huge amount of pressure at the moment and I'm very thankful for all their efforts.

“I wanted to help in some way, and hosting this lecture was a unique opportunity that would have been more difficult to host in normal times. This inter-school discussion was great to be able to facilitate and I hope that staff and students alike benefitted.”

She discussed how the executive and legislative branches of government are formed as consequences of elections and analysed this relationship before concluding with a question and answer session.
