Network Rail engineering work to disrupt trains for Spurs match against Wolves on Sunday December 29
Spurs fans from the Bishop’s Stortford area heading to the Premier League home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers over Christmas by train face disrupted journeys.
Greater Anglia is urging passengers to plan ahead before kick-off at 3pm on Sunday, December 29.
The operator will be running a heavily reduced service and fans are strongly encouraged to walk, if possible, to and from Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale to connect with the Victoria Line.
A revised service will operate with only four trains an hour from Stratford to Northumberland Park before and after the game and only two London Overground trains an hour from London Fields to White Hart Lane before and after the game.
Network Rail’s strengthening work on the Bishopsgate Tunnel and projects to improve the passenger experience at Liverpool Street mean the station will be closed from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day inclusive (Wed Dec 25-Wed Jan 1), Services resume on Thursday, January 2.
West Anglia services will start and terminate at Stratford while Stansted Express services will start and terminate at Tottenham Hale.
Peter Mellar, Greater Anglia’s service manager, said: “With the closure of Liverpool Street, train services are severely impacted for this game.
“Greater Anglia services are expected to be very busy both before and after the match, and customers are advised to travel to and from the match via the Victoria Line.
“We would like to thank customers for their understanding.”
