Adopt East helps children find their perfect adoptive parents faster

Eight councils in the East of England have teamed up to form a regional adoption agency.

Adopt East will work across Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedford, Luton, Norfolk, Southend, Suffolk and Thurrock to find families for children who are waiting to find a loving home. Adoptionplus, Adoption UK and Barnardo’s are also part of the partnership.

The scale of the organisation means that adopters will have access to a larger number of children waiting for adoption and this will help partners to match children with the right family for them at the earliest opportunity.

Cllr Teresa Heritage, Herts County Council's cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: "In Hertfordshire we are dedicated to finding loving and supportive families for children waiting for adoption. These are some of our most vulnerable children and they deserve loving, stable families.

"Hertfordshire have a wealth of experience and we support families every step of the way through the adoption, from initial enquiries to post-adoption support.

"Adopt East is an extremely positive step forward for Hertfordshire. It will enable us to benefit from additional expertise and skills across our region."
