St Michael's primary school in Bishop's Stortford appoints Joanne Fradd as new head

St Michael's Church of England Primary School in Bishop's Stortford has appointed Joanne Fradd as its new head.

She takes over from Lisa Dale as the Apton Road school enters its third century educating children in the town.

Mrs Fradd had been acting head at Debden Primary Academy, near Saffron Walden, since the end of 2018. She has a range of teaching experience across the primary age range, including schools in Greater London and Harlow.

Her family have lived in Bishop's Stortford for several years and she is an active member of All Saints Church at Hockerill.

Chairwoman of governors Maggie Jarman said: "We had a significant number of applications for the headteacher position and Joanne Fradd excelled at every stage of the rigorous selection process.

"The governors are delighted that she has agreed to join us this September and are looking forward to working with her to build on the school's success and in particular our recent 'excellent in all areas' Church School Inspection Report."

Mrs Fradd said: "I believe in empowering staff to provide a rich yet tailored curriculum to stimulate the minds of our children.

"I am very much looking forward to working with the whole St Michael's community to nurture a supportive environment, based on Christian values, where we can develop learners who are outward-looking but reflective, knowledgeable but curious to find out more."
