Bishop's Stortford Escape Rooms: New town centre base for leisure business
Bishop's Stortford Escape Rooms has moved to a new home closer to the town centre.
The leisure business was based at Peek Business Centre, on the Woodside industrial estate off Dunmow Road, for three years and has relocated to the Millars One former maltings building off Southmill Road.
The venue is operated by Know Escape, which has branches in Chelmsford, Maldon and Witham in Essex, Gatwick in West Sussex, Kingston upon Thames in Surrey and Chesterfield in Derbyshire.
Director Matthew Eaves said: "Covid 19 has really impacted our business. We've had to take a long and hard look at all of our venues and ensure we do the right thing to secure their future.
"We've had very poor levels of help and financial support from the Government, which means we've had to make some tough decisions with the ultimate objective of ensuring we make no redundancies and we come out of the pandemic as strong as we can.
"We're excited for this move because it adds a new game called 'At Death's Door', and we'll be soon announcing a fifth game as we expand the site further and, as usual, it will be something very new and very different."
Director Will Hazon added: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us. In these uncertain times, the site is more affordable financially and we can deliver bigger games without having to raise our prices beyond what is unrealistic.
"The people of Bishop's Stortford have been amazing to us since 2018 and our team are looking forward to welcoming everyone back into all our venues. We continue to strive to develop world-class escape room games – beware of imitations!"
During the pandemic, Know Escape delivered 6,000 online escape room adventures, with over 70 team members running live one-hour games with players across the world.
