More roadworks are set to cause disruption in Bishop's Stortford from the end of this month.

Hertfordshire County Council has been asked to grant a highways order, prohibiting traffic from Dane O’Coys Road, from its junction with Cricketfield Lane northwestwards for a distance of around 162m (532ft).

If approved, the road can be closed from January 29 for all but access and the alternative route is via Cricketfield Lane, Barrells Down Lane, Whitehall Road and Dane O’Coys Road.

The order runs for the next 18 months to allow water service connection works to take place, but the council has made it clear that the restriction will not be in force throughout that period. Signs on the road will indicate when the utilities project is active.

Earlier this month, temporary traffic lights and weekend closures on Hadham Road began as part of a four-month project to divert gas and electricity supplies as part of the Bishop’s Stortford North development, now known as Stortford Fields.
