NFU Mutual donation boosts Uttlesford charity Accuro
A charity based near Bishop's Stortford that provides specialist services for disabled people across West Essex has received a donation of £6,451.62 from financial services company NFU Mutual.
Accuro Care Services, at Start Hill, provides social and leisure opportunities to reduce social isolation, build confidence and encourage members to be independent.
NFU Mutual's agent and branch offices in the East of England region nominated 19 local charities to receive a combined donation of more than £141,000 from a national £2m fund launched by head office.
Alison McKeown, Accuro operations manager, said: "We're enormously thankful to the Saffron Walden agency of NFU Mutual for nominating Accuro to receive a donation.
"The money will go a long way towards our aim of reducing loneliness and social isolation for people with a disability in Uttlesford and we're delighted to be able to expand our services in the area from September.
"Our new Stay and Play for children under eight with a disability and their parents and carers in Saffron Walden will respond to the lack of service provision in this area. We look forward to welcoming new families at the beginning of their lifelong journey with Accuro."
Mike Alder, NFU Mutual regional manager for the East of England, said: "The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities. Charities like Accuro are making a wonderful difference to communities across the East of England in these challenging times, and we're proud that our agents have nominated a wide range of local causes to benefit from NFU Mutual's national fund."
