A Bishop's Stortford dry cleaners is set to become a new bar and restaurant.

Nish Popat has asked East Herts Council for planning permission to change the use of the former Spats premises in Devoils Lane, part of the Jackson Square shopping centre.

The building is classified for use as class A1 – shops – or A2 for financial and professional services.

Mr Popat's application says: "The premises are run as a dry cleaners. I am seeking to convert this into a bar/restaurant.

"As part of the proposal, I am seeking to also convert the outdoor area, which currently is a disused flower bed, into outdoor seating."

The scheme includes installation of an 'ozone odour neutraliser' system that uses ultraviolet technology to remove cooking smells.
