Christmas and New Year opening times for Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer and Aldi in Bishop’s Stortford

With the big day just a week away, the festive food shop is looming (unless you’re on the ball?).

As all supermarkets in Bishop’s Stortford will be closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday 25), here’s our guide to their seasonal opening hours to ensure you don’t get caught out this year...

TESCO, Bishop’s Park

The store will be open from 6am to 7pm on Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24) and reopens on Boxing Day (Thursday 26), from 9am to 7pm.

Normal trading hours will operate from December 27 to 30 (Friday to Monday).

On New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31), it will be open from 7am to 7pm.

It will be open on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1), from 8am to 8pm.

SAINSBURY’S, Jackson Square and Thorley Park

Both the Jackson Square and Thorley stores will be open from 6am to 7pm on Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24) and from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day (Thursday 26).

Normal opening times will then resume until New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31), when the stores will be open from 7am to 7pm.

They will be open from 8am to 8pm on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1).

WAITROSE, Northgate End

The store will be open from 8am to 10pm on December 19 to 23 (Thursday to Monday) and then from 8am to 6pm on Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24).

It will be shut on Christmas Day and Boxing Day before returning to its normal hours from December 27 to 30 (Friday to Monday).

The store will be open 8am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31) before closing for New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1).

MARKS & SPENCER, South Street

Until Thursday 19, M&S will be open 8am to 9pm. From Friday to Monday, December 20 to 23 (excluding Sunday 22), it will open an hour earlier, at 7am.

The Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24) opening hours of 6am to 6pm should give shoppers enough time to grab any last-minute bits.

The store will be shut Christmas Day and Boxing Day before reopening on December 27 (Friday) with its usual hours.

New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31) opening hours are 8am to 6pm and it will be shut on New Year’s Day.

ALDI, London Road

Aldi will open earlier on December 21 and 23 (Saturday and Monday), from 7am to 10pm, as well as slightly earlier on December 22 (Sunday), 9.30am to 4pm.

Its Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24) hours are 7am to 6pm. The shop shuts Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

It will be open 8am to 8pm from December 27 to 30 (Friday to Monday; excluding Sunday 29) and from 8am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31). It will be shut New Year’s Day.

All supermarkets will return to their regular opening hours on Thursday January 2.
