Sawbridgeworth residents invited to Rotary club’s Carols on Fair Green for Christmas Eve

Residents carrying torches will gather in Sawbridgeworth this Christmas Eve for the ever-popular Carols on Fair Green.

The Sawbridgeworth and District Rotary Club event, from 6.30pm, will feature half an hour of traditional carol singing, led by the Great St Mary’s Church choir, accompanied by Epping Forest Band members.

As former Great St Mary’s vicar Father Simon Vivian has moved to All Saints in Bishop’s Stortford, Rotary welcomes a new conductor this year – Mark Lee, a member of the church choir.

There is no entrance fee but there is a bucket collection for Rotary to raise funds for local charities, the money from which will be split as follows: 40% for Herts Vision Loss, 40% for the Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service and 20% for other charities through the Sawbridgeworth & District Rotary Trust Fund.

Rotary has had to withdraw the phone-giving option due to increased handling charges, so residents are asked to take cash.
