Parents and pupils say thank you to staff at Hillmead Primary School

Staff at a Bishop’s Stortford primary school got a surprise on National Thank A Teacher Day.

Governors and members of the parent-teacher association (PTA) at Hillmead worked together to prepare a special assembly.

The night before, they decorated the Bishop’s Park primary with banners and left a stash of treats in the staff room.

Chair of governors Gareth Lewis led the assembly, supported by PTA chair Rhona Brown.

They explained how much they appreciated the work all the school staff do – from teachers and learning support assistants in the classroom to school cooks, midday assistants, the caretaker and office staff.

The PTA made cards for each teacher, which were signed by the children in their class and presented to them in assembly.
