A perfect pup called Pudding will be taking the lead when St Clare Hospice holds its popular Winter Walkies later in May.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Shetland sheepdog has been named St Clare's Cutest Canine after winning the charity’s Facebook and Instagram photo competition to find the top dog to lead the pack at the sponsored 5k (3.1-mile) walk on Sunday May 23 at 11am.

From French bulldogs and cockapoos to Pomeranians and spaniels, 18 handsome hounds and pretty pups entered the online photo contest, in which 636 votes were cast.

Pudding’s owner, Dawn Ingram, from Bishop’s Stortford, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Pudding won.

"We're taking part in Winter Walkies because not only do Pud and I love investigating different walks together and meeting new friends, but we also wanted to support the amazing charity that is St Clare and help raise awareness of the incredible support they offer to so many.”

The hospice's challenges and events fundraiser Dani De’ath said: “We were overwhelmed with the response to our Winter Walkies photography competition, Cutest Canine.

"The event, which has been kindly sponsored by Forest Vets, is one of the most popular in the hospice fundraising calendar and we can’t wait to meet all our new four-legged friends on May 23.”

If you and your dog would like to join Pudding and Dawn at St Clare’s Winter Walkies then register online at stclarehospice.org.uk/winterwalkies.
