Person killed on railway line between Elsenham and Newport stations




A person was killed on the railway line near Henham in the early hours of Sunday (December 29).

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene on a section of the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge line between Elsenham and Newport stations shortly after midnight.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line in the vicinity of Henham at 00.13am on 29 December 2024 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended. However, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
