Pickpockets target Bishop's Stortford town centre shoppers

A 61-year-old woman’s purse containing £75 was stolen while she was shopping in South Street.

She had withdrawn cash from Tesco Express last Friday (August 9) at around 4.30pm. She went to browse in the neighbouring Salvation Army charity shop and realised around 20 minutes later that her purse was missing.

The same day, a 48-year-old man had his wallet and £450 Samsung phone stolen while he was in Jackson Square between noon and 12.30pm.

He told police that he remembered a man and a woman had bumped into him while he was walking through the shopping centre.

Herts Constabulary has shared advice on how shoppers can safeguard themselves against crime. For more information, click here.
