Police and paramedics called to Bishop’s Park Tesco after shoplifting incident
A woman has been sentenced for obstructing an officer after police were called to deal with a suspected shoplifter at Tesco in Bishop’s Stortford.
A woman posted on hyperlocal social media platform Nextdoor: “They had a man on the floor with five policemen holding him down and four police cars and a meat wagon.”
Another added: “I was in the petrol station as police were leaving. There was an ambulance and a small puddle of blood on the floor.”
Police were called at 9.41am on Thursday (September 18) following reports of an item being taken from the Bishop’s Park store without payment. Officers arrested a man and a woman.
Shah Ahmad, 40, of Stockmen Field, St Michael’s Mead, was charged with theft from a shop. He will appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on October 8.
Shannon Prince, 28, of no fixed abode, was charged with obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.
She appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Friday (September 19) and pleaded guilty. She was fined £40 and was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
The Indie understands that an ambulance was called as the man required medical treatment before being taken into custody for questioning.
