Police appeal after dangerous driving by sports car drivers on M11
Police are appealing for witnesses following incidents of dangerous driving by multiple motorists on the M11 on two successive days this week.
On both occasions, drivers of brightly coloured sports cars, believed to be Lamborghinis, came to a halt on the motorway, forcing other motorists to stop.
An Essex Police spokesperson said on Wednesday evening (July 24): “For the second consecutive day, we’ve received a number of reports of dangerous driving on the M11.
“Yesterday [Tuesday] we were alerted to several brightly coloured sports cars, believed to be Lamborghinis, coming to a complete stop on the northbound carriageway of the motorway, just before the junction 5 exit to Loughton.
“The road was very busy at the time and concerned motorists contacted us to report the incident.
“This evening [Wednesday] we were again alerted to similar behaviour from a number of cars which had brought traffic to a stop.
“We’re working with our National Highways colleagues and making contact with motorists to gain their accounts of the behaviour they witnessed, including any dashcam footage they have captured.”
Sgt Will Willsher added: “I can’t emphasise enough how dangerous the driving which has been described to us is. The people who are doing this are putting others at risk and that’s simply not acceptable.
“I would again ask anyone who hasn’t spoken to us yet but witnessed this incident, has details of the cars involved or has dashcam footage to contact us as soon as possible.”
