M11 death: Police appeal after man found in van on hard shoulder of motorway dies in hospital

Police are appealing for M11 motorists to help with their investigation into the unexplained death of a man who was found in a vehicle on the motorway.

Essex Police received reports of an unattended dark-coloured van on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between the Redbridge roundabout and Loughton, junctions 4 to 5, shortly after 8pm on Monday April 11.

Officers arrived to find a man in his 40s in the vehicle who was in need of medical treatment. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

A spokesperson for the force said: "He has now sadly died and we are treating his death as unexplained."

Police are now appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious behaviour on the M11 between the Redbridge roundabout and Loughton between 7.30pm and 8.10pm that Monday evening or caught anything similar on their dashcam to come forward.
