Herts police appeal for information after man attacked by Alsatian-type dog in Parsonage Lane, Bishop’s Stortford

A man who was bitten by a dog in the street near a Bishop’s Stortford primary school has warned parents to beware of the animal.

David Clare was walking along Parsonage Lane, on the Parsonage estate, on Friday afternoon when he was attacked by a brown and black Alsatian-type dog at the junction with Plaw Hatch Close, near Summercroft Primary.

“It punctured my skin at the top of my thigh and ripped my trousers,” said David.

“Fortunately I was near our daughter’s and she was able to dress the wound before I went to Harlow A&E for a tetanus jab and antibiotics.”

David thanked hospital staff and police, who he contacted after the attack, and urged parents to avoid any such dog, even on a lead.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Police are investigating following reports of a dog being dangerously out of control in Bishop’s Stortford.
