Three masked and hooded men ransacked every room when they broke into a house in Sawbridgeworth.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information to the burglary, which happened in West Road between 7.12pm and 7.18pm on Saturday (June 25). It is being linked to another break-in in Hertfordshire.

Insp Mark Collins, of Bishop's Stortford and Sawbridgeworth police's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said the owner was on holiday and a house sitter had briefly popped out when the men struck.

"The three white males entered from a side alleyway and came to the back of the property with a screwdriver, smashing a glass pane to gain entry," he said.

"They went into every room of the house and a large amount of items were strewn across the floor. They then made off in an unknown direction.

"They were all wearing hoods, face masks and gloves. We're linking this to another burglary in the Borehamwood area."

It is not yet known if any items were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call Herts Constabulary on 101 or report online at herts.police.uk/report, quoting crime reference number 41/50936/22.
