Fallow deer spotted with rope around antlers at Thremhall Park

Wildlife lovers were concerned after a deer was spotted with rope caught around its antlers.

The fallow buck was seen by Keeley Payne at Thremhall Park, near Start Hill, and she posted a picture of it on Bishop’s Stortford Community Facebook group, asking for advice.

It was suggested it would be best to leave the animal until it sheds its antlers in the spring, rather than try to capture it to free the rope.

Keeley thanked people for their advice and reported the deer had wandered off into Priory Wood, adding: “He was walking and eating well – hopefully he’ll be OK until his antlers fall off.”
