One lane of the southbound M11 between Bishop's Stortford and Harlow was closed on Wednesday morning (Dec 9) for a pothole to be repaired.
The Bishop's Stortford Independent understands that several vehicles suffered punctures as a result of the hole.
A spokesman for Highways England said: "We were aware of a pothole in lane one between junction 8 (Bishop's Stortford/Stansted Airport/A120) and junction 7 (Harlow/A414).
"We closed lane one only to repair the pothole. This has now been repaired and all three lanes are now fully open."
