Princess Alexandra Hospital’s bowel cancer nurses launch support group for patients
Bowel cancer nurse specialists at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) are launching a new support group for patients.
The first of its kind in the area and open to anyone affected by the disease, it aims to create an important resource for the community.
The group launches at St Thomas More Church Hall in Hodings Road, Harlow, on Thursday April 24, from 1pm to 3pm.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and nearly 44,000 people are diagnosed each year. Early detection through screening can make all the difference, with nine in 10 people surviving when diagnosed early.
Deepamol Cruz, Macmillan colorectal clinical nurse specialist at PAHT, said: “By launching this support group, we hope to empower patients, reduce isolation and foster a sense of community.
“It’s crucial that people know they are not alone on their journey, and we are excited to offer this space for shared learning and support.
“We invite everyone affected by bowel cancer to take advantage of this invaluable new service and to join us on April 24 for the launch of the bowel cancer support group in Harlow.”
