Staff at Bishop's Stortford's Port Jackson pub are flushed with success after winning a platinum rating in the Loo of the Year Awards 2020 – repeating their achievement of last year.

Judges praised the JD Wetherspoon business in Riverside Wharf for décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

As part of the awards, inspectors make unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at a variety of sites across the UK, to grade them diamond, platinum, gold or silver. Unacceptable facilities are not graded at all.

Port Jackson manager Nicole Cottage said: "We're delighted with the award. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it's great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."

Loo of the Year Awards 2020 managing director Mike Bone said: "The toilets at The Port Jackson have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained. The pub richly deserves its platinum award."

The pub received the same platinum accolade in the 2019 awards.
