Residents settle into 46 new affordable homes at Tudor Park in Sawbridgeworth
East Herts Council and housing association Paradigm Housing Group have marked completion of the largest new supply of affordable homes in Sawbridgeworth for some years.
Of the 46 new homes at Tudor Park, off West Road, 36 are being rented at an affordable rate to local people on the council’s housing register and 10 have been sold on a shared ownership basis of part-buy, part-rent.
They comprise 28 two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and 18 flats centred around a children’s park. The homes, in Rochester Avenue and Woodward Gardens, are part of a multi-headed cul-de-sac. They are suitable for households of different sizes and close to the amenities Sawbridgeworth offers.
Tudor Park resident Kieran said: “Getting this flat has felt like a second chance. I’m so grateful to Paradigm for all their support and it’s great to feel like I’m back on my feet again.”
Cllr Mione Goldspink, EHC’s deputy leader and its executive member for neighbourhoods, said that it was an “attractive and well-located” development.
“Given the pressing need for more affordable housing in East Herts, increasing the supply of high-quality homes is a top priority for our joint administration,” she said. “To this end, we will continue to build strong relationships with local developers and housing associations across the district for the benefit of our residents.”
Martin Jones, director of development for Paradigm, said: “With the cost of living continuing to be a real struggle for many families, it’s great to be able to contribute to the delivery of so many high-quality affordable homes.
“These new homes should enable people to put down stable roots from which to build their lives and contribute to the local area. We look forward to working with East Herts Council to unlock even more opportunities.”
Paradigm has grown over the last 35 years to become one of the largest social housing providers in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, managing nearly 17,000 homes in the region.
