Bentfield and St Mary’s schools in Stansted to host Music in the Park and The Big Colour Run

Stansted’s popular Music in the Park festival returns this summer, marking its 22nd anniversary.

The annual fundraiser for Bentfield Primary and Nursery School in Rainsford Road is organised by its PTA committee.

It will be held on Saturday July 5. Tickets are on sale now, available through the school office, from the Dog and Duck pub in Lower Street or from estate agent Intercounty’s office in Cambridge Road.

Organisers are hoping the sun shines on this year’s festival to avoid a repeat of 2024’s wind and rain, which blew down gazebos and left equipment stuck in the mud.

In previous years, the festival has been graced by popular bands, including performances from former pupils of the school. The day also includes attractions, fun and games for all the family.

Last year, Music in the Park raised £7,000, which has been spent on the school allotment, an outdoor covered shelter and climbing equipment.

St Mary’s CofE Primary in Stansted is also preparing for its summer fayre on Saturday June 28, from midday to 4pm, at its grounds in Hampton Road on the Forest Hall estate.

Alongside all the usual stalls and attractions, visitors can join in The Big Colour Run obstacle course, dashing through clouds of colourful paint powder.

The afternoon event will also include live music, fairground rides and bouncy castles and a miniature steam train. Stansted firefighters will be in attendance with their fire engine.
