A120 Bishop's Stortford bypass: Road works to bring delays and diversions for drivers

Road works on the A120 at Bishop's Stortford are set to bring new year disruption for drivers, diverting bypass traffic through the town centre for part of the two-week project.

Highways authority Hertfordshire County Council is to close the 2.25-mile (3.63km) stretch between the Tesco and Stansted Road roundabouts for a weekend. Contractors will be carrying out a 'cover replacement' on the western oxbow layby.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday (January 4). Until Friday January 15, temporary two-way traffic signals will be used 24/7, manually controlled from 6am to 8pm each day.

The bypass will be closed overnight from 9pm on Thursday January 14 to 5am on Friday January 15 and then for the weekend from 9pm that Friday night to 5am on Monday January 18.

Bypass traffic will be diverted through the town centre via Hadham Road, Link Road, The Causeway, Hockerill Street and Stansted Road or Dunmow Road.
