Royal garden party honour for Takeley women’s rights campaigner Valerie Lolomari

Campaigner Valerie Lolomari, the founder of charity Women of Grace UK, enjoyed a visit to Buckingham Palace for a garden party hosted by King Charles.

The Takeley mother of three was recognised for her community development and advocacy work, particularly with survivors of female genital mutilation (FGM), sex-based violence and mental health challenges.

Valerie, accompanied by husband Tony, said: “It was a deeply humbling and unforgettable experience.

“To walk through the grounds of Buckingham Palace, to meet and mingle with so many others who are also making a difference in their communities… it reminded me that every act of service matters. I am truly grateful.”

She thanked Hertfordshire’s Lord-Lieutenant, Robert Voss, for nominating Women of Grace UK for the honour.

The charity supports women and girls across Hertfordshire, Essex and beyond through workshops, community events, advocacy training, and health and wellbeing initiatives.

Valerie collaborates with local authorities, law enforcement, schools and grassroots organisations to bring about awareness, education and systemic change.

“This honour is not just for me,” she added, “it is for every woman who has found her voice, every girl who has been given a safe space and every supporter who stands with us in this mission.”
