Herts Careline received a royal thank you from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the community alarm and telecare service congratulated them on their wedding day.

The not-for-profit helps thousands of residents live independently at home by offering assistive technology services and a round-the-clock emergency helpline.

Many of its users in Stortford and throughout the county shared their plans to mark Prince Harry’s marriage in May with the good cause and so the Herts County Council-backed organisation decided to write to the happy couple to pass on its patrons’ well wishes.

Kensington Palace replied to the messages of goodwill with an official thank you card, including an envelope featuring the palace’s crest, and a photograph of Harry and Meghan on their big day by photographer Alexi Lubomirski.

The message read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
