Bishop's Stortford charity shop gets burgled for second time
A burglar was filmed on CCTV breaking in to a Bishop’s Stortford charity shop – through a boarded-up hole in the front door caused by a thief 10 days earlier.
The RSPCA Stort Valley branch in The Dells, off South Street, was broken into at around 2.20am last Wednesday (Jan 6).
The thief, who was of a medium build and wore a Puffa jacket, got in by breaking a board off the front door. He went to the office and unsuccessfully tried to get into the safe. He left with some clothing.
Police arrested a suspect later that day and enquiries are ongoing.
The shop had been burgled on Sunday December 27. Francis Keeley, 46, of no fixed address, was caught red-handed by a parking attendant and sentenced by Hatfield magistrates to eight weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
