Cluckle Brothers and Elvis Peckley looking for homes: RSPCA call for people who would like to adopt farm animals

If you have room in your home for the Cluckle Brothers or Elvis Peckley, the RSPCA wants to hear from you.

The animal rescue charity has launched an appeal to find forever homes for more than 100 farm animals which have been rescued by its inspectors.

And among the 26 ready to be homed and a further 76 in partner boarding facilities waiting for their homes are cockerels Paul and Barry Cluckle and Elvis.

Also looking for adoption are portly pot-bellied pig Crumpet and her one-time pal Phil the old spot. They are looking for separate homes after a disagreement – Crumpet has had her fill of Phil, and Phil says Crumpet is toast.

Other animals include Gary and Gertie the Boer goats and hens Hilda and Blanche and their boyfriend Edwin.

Dr Marc Cooper, head of farm animals at the RSPCA, said: “Some people assume we just rehome cats and dogs, but that's far from the case – we actually have lots of farm animals rescued by our inspectors that end up coming into the care of our fantastic animal centres, with facilities to care for them, and are now looking for homes.

“Farm animals often have different needs to animals such as dogs, cats or rabbits, so it’s important to consider whether you have the time, resources and money they need.

"For example, goats need lots of enrichment and climbing space in their enclosure to keep them busy, and chickens need places to perch and somewhere to scratch and dust bathe.

"Farm animals should also be seen by a specialist farm vet who can give you lots of advice regarding their diet and health care.

“If you have the right environment for these animals, they can make wonderful additions to your family. They're very intelligent, curious and can be very affectionate, and rehoming a farm animal can be very rewarding."
