Sawbridgeworth’s lack of EV charging points described by councillor as a ‘disgrace’
Failure to secure any electric vehicle (EV) charging points in Sawbridgeworth was branded a disgrace by a town councillor.
A meeting of Sawbridgeworth Town Council on Monday heard Cllr Annelise Furnace reveal she had “chased” both Hertfordshire County Council and East Herts Council on plans for the EV points in Bell Street car park, but there was still no sign of them being installed.
She questioned what the town council could do to solve the issue, suggesting contacting community halls or the Co-op store and Shell fuel station, both in London Road.
Town mayor Cllr Ruth Buckmaster, who chaired Monday’s meeting, said councillors had been “on the case” for years.
Cllr John Rider, although admitting he would not have an electric car, said: “If we can’t get it from the authority we get it from the Co-op. It’s becoming a bit of a disgrace for Sawbridgeworth.”
