Sawbridgeworth holds Christmas lights switch-on with festive fayre

The countdown to Christmas begins in Sawbridgeworth this Saturday (November 25) when the town’s festive lights are switched on during an afternoon of fun in Bell Street.

The fayre begins at 3pm and features a free grotto at Sayesbury Manor for children to pop in and see Father Christmas, a fun fair, community stalls and businesses selling festive wares.

Entertainment will be provided by Youth CREATE, Diverse Performing Arts, Sawbridgeworth Community Choir and the Graham School of Dance. East Herts Radio will be broadcasting live throughout the event.

The list of community group stalls includes the Guides, Scouts, air cadets, High Wych’s St James the Great Church, Sawbridgeworth Community Library, the local history society and Youth CREATE face painting.

A Christmas decorations workshop will be held in Great St Mary’s Church, together with The Friends of Reedings Junior School and Fawbert and Barnard Infants, and Sustainable Sawbridgeworth will be raising awareness of how to reduce food waste.

The Christmas lights in Bell Street will be switched on at 6.30pm.
