All Saints C of E Primary School Year 6 pupils Olivia, Elise, Iris and Beth took on their fundraising challenge during Walk to School Week, a national initiative to encourage children to get more exercise by walking, cycling or scooting to school every day.

Most All Saints pupils took part in the five-day event and each class achieved its target of 100 school journeys by foot over the course of the week.

Olivia, Elise, Iris and Beth took the challenge one step further in aid of Walk the Walk, a breast cancer charity that generates funds by organising power-walking challenges, including the MoonWalk marathons in London.

Philip Asher, head of the Parsonage Lane primary, explained: “Inspiration for Walk the Walk came from the crossover with Walk to School Week and because family and friends have been affected by breast cancer.

“Doing it barefoot came from an idea a family friend had that tied in nicely with the walking theme.”
