Manor Fields Primary School launches Christmas fund to help school families in need

Families at Manor Fields Primary School are sharing the spirit of Christmas with a fundraiser for those in their community facing hardship because of Covid-19.

Their efforts have already generated more than a quarter of the £5,000 target and organisers are keen to encourage parents who need help to come forward in complete confidence.

Ina White, one of the mums behind the initiative, explained that the team understood it was difficult for those in need to admit they needed help, but the school community was committed to offering support and nobody should feel concerned about coming forward. Every effort will be made to preserve their anonymity.

She said: "We hope to make Christmas a little easier for them and help bring some of the magic back.

"The Manor Fields Community Support Fund will serve not only those in receipt of benefits but also those who have recently had their income reduced or lost their jobs."

The fundraising campaign will end on December 8. Money raised will be converted into supermarket vouchers and distributed confidentially.
